During my visit to the VA Hospital, I talked to Dr. Zane Atkins about one of the patients he was going to perform surgery on. We then went to the cath lab to see what was going on. There was a patient which dr. Zane thought needed surgery but the other doctor who was in charge of that patient thought that he didn’t and just needed a stent placed in his Left main. We watched the cath but we had to leave before we saw the actual stent being placed.
During my visit to the NC vet school, i met with Dr. Simon Roe. Dr. Roe is a specialist in small animal orthopedic doctor. through my time there he gave me a tour of the school showing me OR’s, Examination rooms, prep rooms and holding areas. i saw some x-rays and witnessed 2 examinations of 2 small dogs. both had bone problems in their legs and both require surgery. i also witnessed him talking to a pet owner and letting them know what procedures needed to be taken.
